I had the pleasure of delivering the keynote address on the second day of the PPC Summit Los Angeles. My topic was about detecting click fraud and saving money. To my surprise there were several people, both marketers and agency-side, who didn’t think click fraud was that big of a deal. Some mentioned that it was just an unavoidable part of running PPC campaigns while others simply thought that it didn’t happen too often.
As with any marketing plan, some initiatives are more important than others. The last thing I wanted people to think was that I was trying to cause some sort of paranoia about the looming scepter of (cue scary music) CLICK FRAUD! The last thing anyone needs these days is more panic regarding their finances. My point was simply that, for those of us who are looking to possibly save some marketing money, it’s a good idea to make sure that your budget isn’t being tapped by a third party in any way, shape or form. The name of my session wasn’t “Click Fraud MADNESS! Are you a helpless victim??”, rather it was “Detecting Click Fraud & Saving Money” (552KB PDF). In fact, some of the methods I highlighted can actually save budget dollars even without any click fraud going on. To learn more, please feel free to download the presentation slides: http://www.lyrishq.com/images/stories/seo/detecting_clickfraud_saving_money.pdf Overall, it was a great conference to attend and there were some really great questions asked. Special thanks to Mary O’Brien, Karen Waggoner and the rest of the PPC Summit team for having me and for hosting another great event! ### About The AuthorAndres Galdames is a business analyst at Lyris.
